This hotel was burnt down several years ago, the reason is still unknown.  The roof of the hotel is completely burnt out, which is why the lower levels are in poorer condition year after year, as the weather on the top of the mountain is very bad. LOCATION

Finding and locating Urbex sites is a time-consuming task or we can call it a hobby.

First, try Google Search & Google Maps, a good search can do miracles 😉

But with the help of Google maps and Bing maps, google search urbex-related webpages, and delving into the comments of open/closed Facebook groups with abandoned topics, you can find almost every location if you really want it. That’s how we’ve made a Google Urbex World Map digging deep into the Internet, so now we have thousands of amazing new places to discover, only time and money limit us. If you are also an Urbex photographer, or if you have an Urbex Vlog/Blog please contact us, we are ready to share or change locations if we are sure you are a trusted Urbexer/Friend, not a metal dealer/thief or a destructive barbarian vandal.

We strictly condemn all forms of destruction of deserted places, damaging abandoned sites. We take nothing away, we do not move anything, don’t break locks, don’t break windows. Take photos, leave just footprints.

Please support us on Patreon, so with this support, we can visit better and better-abandoned places all over the world. You will be able to get the newest blog posts and pictures weeks before they will be published here and on our Facebook page. Also, we are doing live chat sessions with our supporters, so you can hear the really interesting stories about how we find a hidden location, hor how is it possible to enter a place or how can we survive when we are cathed by the security. This behind the scene information is only for the supporting Patreon users. Also, you will be the first to be able to buy a cheaper price for our future printed Urbex photo albums, so early heads up on any new print products just for you.

Maintaining a site like this, with a Facebook page with daily posts needs a lot of time and effort. We created this Club to share our adventures and photos with the world, to keep the memory of these abandoned buildings which might even disappear in the near future forever. Our hope is that visitors enjoy their time here and think about the past, the stories behind the pictures, and maybe we will encourage someone to buy and restore a site.

If you don’t have enough money to support us on Patreon, there is another way: follow us on Facebook, Like and Comment frequently – we love interacting with people who like the topic, tell your friends/family/colleagues about our pages, share a link to our website with them so they can take a look, or share re-tweet our social media posts so that other interested people you know might see something they like!

THE STORY

The background story of the Hotel Nimród:

Hotel Nimród, built-in 1971 on the highest point of the Pilis Mountains, in Dobogókő, Hungary awaited those wishing to relax and go on excursions with panoramic rooms, a cozy restaurant, a swimming pool, and a sauna until 2009. It was once a real luxury hotel with an amazing panorama, a cozy restaurant, a sauna and a swimming pool, rooms with cable TV, a telephone, and a minibar, and today one of the shameful and life-threatening walls of the Pilis Mountains.

In 1971, the then pride of Dobogókő, the 4000sqm Hotel Nimród, which had been a popular holiday destination for decades, was handed over to its destination. The hostel was built to serve some of the guests in connection with the largest and first world hunting exhibition of all time held in Budapest that year.

Nimrod was a luxury hotel in its day. It was one of the first in Hungary to have a separate bathroom, a hotel with a sauna, a swimming pool, panoramic all-comfort rooms, and an excellent kitchen.

The luxury hotel was not spared the 2008 economic crisis. Although there was talk of the building being converted into a workers’ hostel by the Suzuki factory in Esztergom, the hostel closed in 2009.

As is usually the case with abandoned buildings, they will be looted by strangers within a few years. Mostly as a result of this fracture-crushing, it succeeds in becoming a real spirit of the place, as has happened in the case of Nimrod.

In addition, in 2017, the hotel caught fire in mysterious, as yet unclear circumstances. Although the fire was put out, it didn’t help the building: 80 percent of the roof structure and top floor burned down, and the former luxury hotel has since stood still.

Hotel Nimród is located on the highest point of the Visegrád Mountains, in Dobogókő, at an altitude of almost 700 meters.
The hotel was built in 1971 and was open until 2009. Panoramic rooms, a cozy restaurant, a swimming pool, a sauna awaited those who wish to relax and hike in its heyday. After closing, they broke into the uninhabited building several times and then burned down in the summer of 2017. On the day of the fire, the news was as follows:

“The Nimrod hotel in Dobogókő, which had been empty for more than eight years, caught fire. It was the seventh building in the area to burn unexpectedly in three months. Locals are sure someone set it on fire. The hotel would have been converted into a nursing home. The roof of the former hotel on the podium burns 80 percent of the roof structure and the upper level, which means 1,500 square meters. Origo told him the hotel hadn’t been in operation since January 1, 2009. There was a fire in an emergency stairwell, there was nothing that could have caught fire. something broke out. They broke into it a lot of times, most recently they wanted to steal a copper rod from there. ”
Although experts are still investigating the cause of the fire, if one can believe the spokesman for the hotel owner, who said there was nothing that could have set fire to the stairwell, it is possible that someone actually set fire to the Nimrod hotel. But that’s just an assumption for now.

It is now open, with windows without glass, shattered, burned, looted. What will be his fate? In some rooms you can still find the furnishings, curtains on the window, just broken, disassembled, damaged.

The building is currently owned by the Nimrod Senior House Foundation. The fate of Nimrod may be settled soon. It is planned to be used as a nursing home, but the start of work will also depend on the outcome of an ongoing mortgage lawsuit, in which a decision will be made shortly.

Work can start in the spring of 2022 at the latest, and the building can be renovated with an investment of about 600 million HUF (2 million EUR). It is envisaged that the buildings next to the former hotel would also be included in the project, with service rooms set up in them.

🇭🇺 The story of Nimród Hotel in Hungarian language:

A Pilis-hegység legmagasabb pontján, Dobogókőn 1971-ben épült Hotel Nimród egészen 2009-ig panorámás szobákkal, hangulatos étteremmel, uszodával, szaunával várta a pihenni, kirándulni vágyókat.

A Nimród a maga korában luxusszállónak számított. Magyarországon az elsők között itt tartozott a szobákhoz külön fürdőszoba, a hotel szaunával, uszodával, panorámás összkomfortos szobákkal és kiváló konyhával várta a Pilisbe látogatókat.

A luxusszállót a 2008-as gazdasági válság nem kímélte.

A Visegrádi-hegység legmagasabb pontján, Dobogókőn áll a Hotel Nimród, majdnem 700 méter magasságban.
A szálloda 1971-ben épült, 2009-ig várta a pihenni vágyókat. Panorámás szobák, hangulatos étterem, uszoda, szauna, várta a pihenni, kirándulni vágyókat fénykorában.

A hotelt idősek otthonává alakították volna át.

Vajon mi lesz a sorsa?

A Nimród sorsa hamarosan rendeződhet.
